Zergling Early Base Harassment

How to maximize your Zerglings for early base harassment. The Zergling is one of the fastest units in StarCraft 2 and is a very effective early base harassment unit because of that. Speed upgrade or not, use these puppies wisely and effectively.

Difficulty Rank:

4/5

When to Use:

Featured Units:

Early game when your units can sneak past the opponents and cause confusion and chaos.   Zergling is used for this strategies

[What to do]

Move your Zerglings quickly into the back of an opponents base to harass the worker line.

[Tips for Pulling This Off]

Research the speed upgrade for Zerglings and move them quickly past your opponents armies. Once they are in the worker line have them attack the workers and avoid being attacked by the opponents army by running out before you are surrounded.

Good vs. These Races / Strategies:

Bad vs. These Races / Strategies:

This is great when your opponent isn't walled in and has a poorly defended mineral line. This is more useful vs. Zerg and Protoss players as they are less likely to be walled. Also, Zergling harass is great for destroying or harassing early expansions before they are finished building or right after as there is usually less of a choke point to blockade an expansion.   This is bad when your opponent is walled off and cannot be reached or if they hold a good choke point.

What to do in Success:

What to do in Failure:

If you are successful continue to harass your opponent while building up an army and taking more expansions and/or greater map control. Limiting your opponents income is the first step to success.   If you fail continue to build up normally and potentially expand to get an economic advantage or equilibrium. Be careful to fend off a counter-attack.
