When to Use:

Featured Units:

Use this when you have a large mob of ranged units and you need to provide a meat shield for them.   Ultralisk is used for this strategies

[What to do]

Send in your Ultralisks at the head of your army, ahead of your Roaches, Hydras, Zerglings and any other units.

[Tips for Pulling This Off]

Ensure that your Ultralisks are in the front of your army before the fight begins so they can absorb damage and not get stuck behind your ranged units. Also, use your ranged units to target down AE units like Colossus and High Templar before they can target those weaker, more AE susceptible ranged units.

Good vs. These Races / Strategies:

Bad vs. These Races / Strategies:

This is good when your opponent has crushing AE units like Colossus, Tanks or Templar. Your Ultralisks will help deal and absorb damage while your ranged units will deal damage more safely from the back without being targeted and destroyed immediately.   This is not effective against armies that employ Infestors as they may mind control you or Air armies that will be unaffected by Ultralisks.

What to do in Success:

What to do in Failure:

Continue to push with your army on the opposing army and then into their base or to destroy their expansions. Expand to gain more map control or deal a finishing blow and continue to build appropriate units to reinforce your army.   If you fail you may want to retreat quickly and re-position yourself and you will likely need to continuously rebuild your troops until you can gain advantage in a battle. Assess your unit mix and build units to counter your opponents army.
