Brood Lord Ledging

How to properly leverage a Ledge so that your opponents army is in chaos and your army is a success. Using a Brood Lord over a ledge in StarCraft 2 is one of the most devastating and frustrating tactics for your opponents to deal with.

When to Use:		Featured Units:
When your opponent has an army or a base near a ledge or a ramp.

[What to do]
Use your Brood Lords and their range to either limit the amount of troops that can attack your Brood Lords (stay about range 5 away from the ledge) or to have your Brood lords move behind the ledge to force troops to walk up and around the terrain to get to your Brood Lords.


[Tips for Pulling This Off]
Begin the fight with your Brood Lords at or behind a ledge, crossing or other large obstacle and have them fire at the opposing armies units. Likely the Broodlings will distract and/or be the focus of the opposing army so you should continue to attack with the Brood Lords without fear of retaliation. You can slowly move the Brood Lords back to strengthen your position behind the ledge and avoid damage as well.

This is great vs. any mid-ranged anti-air army. Marines, Hydralisks, Stalkers, High Templar and Sentries will all be affected by this.		This does not work at all against Air Units (but will help if the opponents army is mixed air and land as the land will not be able to attack you). Also, Stalkers with Blink can overcome the ledges rather easily, but it will still slow the down somewhat.

If the opposing army runs away you can begin to chase it, otherwise continue to hold your ledge until the opponents army has been killed and then move to push on their base or expansions.		If you fail try to escape with as many Brood Lords and other units as possible. If you cannot retreat then fight and kill as many units as you can before your army dies while you are rebuilding the appropriate counter units to your enemies army at your base.
