Early game worker scout can help you fend off rushes and proxies.
 

[Tips for Pulling This Off]

Always scout the closest position in a multiplayer map because that position is the most dangerous. If the opponent is Terran, you can attack his SCVs while he constructs the barrack. Your scout can be used to block tech-labs and expansions from building.

Rally point the worker around his base if you are occupied macroing your base. The longer the scout lives, the more intelligence you will get. The best scouters are those who can distract the enemy enough and gather information about the opponent's strategy.   A new scout is needed depending if you do not know what the enemy is doing after you lose your scout.
