Six Pool Build Order

The Six Pool is a cheez Zerg strategy in StarCraft 2. The Six Pool strategy is the fastest way to get 6 Zerglings out and headed for your opponents base. If used properly and not blocked off this is a very difficult strategy to defend.

[Zerg Build Order]

    • Send all of your drones to mine minerals.
    • When you get 200 minerals build a spawning pool
    • Build a drone when you get 50 minerals.
    • Build an overlord when you get 100 minerals.
    • Build 3 edgings as soon as the spawning pool is finished and have your hatchery waypoint to the enemies base.
    • Seek and Destroy.

Scouting Needs:

Optimal Map Conditions:

You need to know where the other persons base is at the start of the game as you can spare no drones for scouting.   Small to Medium 1v1 Map; Small to Medium 2v2 Map (in 2v2's)

Vs Terran:

Vs Protoss:

Vs Zerg:

Good only if you can get into the base before they seal the entrance. Otherwise you'll have to quickly switch to bane lings to bunker bust.   Good, focus on probes.   Good vs. any normal Zerg build, they should not have defense in time.

What to Watch out For:

Early base blockades. Enemy units kiting your zerglings away from their drone line or production facilities.

Tips for Pulling off the Attack:

You will want to hit the worker line quickly to stop their mineral mining. Also, if they happen to get units out attack and surround them with your zerglings quickly before going back to attack their worker line.

Transitioning out of this Strategy:

If your initial attack fails you will need to pick one of two options. If the attack is close to working you can bring in reinforcement zerglings, however if the attack fails without much economic harassment you will want to quickly build more drones and a queen and switch to a defensive stance as you will be significantly behind in economy. This is more or less an "all-in" cheese strategy.

Additional Tips

TIPS:
- You can 6 pool on ANY MAP. Use a drone to scout your opponents location first. they can only be at one of three locations, and you can scout two before your lings are ready. When you find your opponent, immediately return to base and mine with your drone. Scouting only slows the rush a bit.

- Straight for the mineral line. The best thing you can do is cripple their production. A perfect 6 pool will send your lings right through their blockade as its being built and cripple their mineral line. Pick off any unit they may have in the process. VS toss it is sometimes good to break their pylon and cripple zealot production before it starts.
- if they manage to pull of the blockade after you damage their mineral line, immediately transition into a Baneling Bust. This works amazing if you know how to pull it off. otherwise you have to transition into a normal mid game asap.

- VS zerg is the hardest, as defending lings, a few spine colonies and a queen will likely shut you out. VS Zerg is a timing battle, as whoever builds faster will have the advantage. Dropping a few spine colonies behind their line will sometimes shut them out (and is way fun).

Benefits:
- A 6 pool is so fast they will likely have no way to stop you. A good player will avoid an insta-GG, but your waves and waves of zerglings will break them down.
- Only a zen like opponent can stay calm and focused after being rushed.
Your players panic = your advantage.
- Even If they manage to shut you out, it still gives you a very good idea of how they play and what they will do.
