Roach Hydralisk Build Order

The Roach, Hydralisk build in StarCraft 2 is a Zerg Strategy timed for mid-game aggressive map control and attacking. The Roach Hydralisk strategy is very balanced and allows for countering most strategies fairly well.

Scouting Needs:

 

Optimal Map Conditions:

Scouting for a cheez rush (reaper, 6 to 10 pool) or proxy gateway is important. Also scout for early air harass strategies so you can properly defend yourself and then counter.   Medium sized maps are best for this. You can utilize chokes, bridges or cliffs too as your units have ranged attacks. Watch out for choke points of enemies bases and use an overlord to help you with ledged defenses.
     
 

Vs Terran:

Vs Zerg:

This build works well vs. Terran as well. You need to time it right though as they will typically have marine/marauders by then and it's a numbers game. If they have more marines, go more roaches, more marauders, go more hydralisks. Watch out for tanks and medivacs, use infesters to help counteract medivacs and gain positioning advantage.   This build is relatively good vs. protoss. If they have stalkers or immortals go for more hydralisks and if they have zealots go for more roaches. You need to watch out for templars and colossus though as they are the bane to this build. Add in infesters to help counter these - neural parasite for colossus works well.   This is a strong build against Zerg. It can help defend from Mutalisk attacks by quickly gaining hydralisks and can help with zerglings if you focus more on roaches. Having a 'ball' is key vs. zerglings.
         
         

What to Watch out For:

Cheez rushes and early air. The mid-game fights you should be able to win with this build. If they go cheez focus on quick roaches potentially with complimentary zerglings (early gas is hard to come by) and if you see an air build go to lair more quickly and pump out hydralisks asap.
 

Tips for Pulling off the Attack:

This strategy shines in early to mid game when you have stronger units than your opponent and can start massing them.
 

Transitioning out of this Strategy:

This build puts the user in a good position. It's a great build for large army support and relative map control but lacks harassment capabilities. You can transition to anything from here and I recommend finding counters to what your opponent is doing. Adding in mutalisks and Speed-lings allows for harassment and going for ultralisks or brood lords allows for late game pushes that are overwhelming, just be sure this counters your opponent.
