The Thor Drop is an interesting and deveastating strategy for Terran players in StarCraft 2. It allows for the Terran player to quickly build the devastating Thor and then drop it behind the enemies worker line, one shotting workers until a significant helper force arrives.

- 10 Supply Depot
- 12 Barracks (build marines for defense)
- 13 Refinery with 3 workers
- Build Orbital Command when Barracks finishes
- Build Factory when you have 100 gas
- Build another Refinery
- Build Armory then Starport when Factory finishes
- Tech Lab on Factory
- Build Thor then Medivac

Scouting Needs: |
|
Optimal Map Conditions: |
| Scout the enemy base as quickly as possible and look for early mass troops, a cheez strategy and anti-air. |
|
Medium sized maps for 1v1 and Medium to large sized maps for 2v2's. |

Vs Terran: |
|
Vs Protoss: |
|
Vs Zerg: |
| This is an ok build but if spotted marines/marauders can rush to where the Thor is being dropped and quickly destroy the Thor or the Medivac. |
|
This strategy works well vs. Protoss if they don't have anti-air. It can easily disrupt the probe line and can take on light reinforcements before jetting off again. If they have Phoenix you will have to land the Thor to take them out which may strand your Thor, but will at least allow for some kills. |
|
This strategy works great vs. Zerg as Mutalisks are highly susceptible to Thor's and Queens die in two rounds of Thor Blasts - and are a huge loss for Zerg. May have to make multiple drops though as Zerg expand quickly. |

What to Watch out For: |
| Air units that move to intercept your drop. Drop your Thor before the Medivac goes down at the least. Also watch out for units at the drop zone and pre-established base defense in the rear of the base. |
| |
Tips for Pulling off the Attack: |
| Go in quickly and from a path that is typically not scouted, you do not want your Thor spotted. Drop behind the minerals and allow the Thor's range to pick off the workers. Be ready to lift the Thor off and run the Medivac away if overwhelming forces come at you. Lift early. |
| |
Transitioning out of this Strategy: |
| If the Thor drop is not an option you will want to quickly transition into a Standard Protoss "stack" army of Marines, Marauders and Thor's. Depending on the enemies units you may want to add in Tanks (for tier 2 and below ground support), or Banshees for added ground damage or Vikings for anti-air and anti-Colossus. Your transition should be largely based on what your enemy has. |
