The Void Ray Rush is an aggressive all-in early air attack strategy for Protoss in StarCraft 2. The goal is to surprise your enemy with early Void Rays and quickly destroy their Command Center/Nexus/Hatchery to shut down their economy and force them to gg.

Scouting Needs: |
|
Optimal Map Conditions: |
| Scout your opponent to see if they are early rushing you and you need to establish defense. |
|
Medium to large sized maps work best for this strategy. |

Vs Terran: |
|
Vs Protoss: |
|
Vs Zerg: |
| This strategy works well vs. Terran. You will need to sneak into the back of their base and quickly focus down on their command center. Watch out for an M&M push or early attacks to defend and Marines in the base. |
|
This strategy works well vs. Protoss too. Watch out for early stalkers and sentries and try to quickly sneak in and destroy the Nexus. |
|
This strategy works well vs. Zerg but watch out for the Queen. Also, lookout for early rushes and see if they are teching to Spire quickly as Mutalisks will make short work of Void Rays. |

|
What to Watch out For: |
| Watch out for early air units from your opponent as Void Rays are susceptible to Mutalisks, Vikings, and Phoenix. Also, look out for ground armies as groups of small units are good counters to void rays. Lastly, you will want to scout for early rushes to build defenses if necessary. This is largely an all-in strategy. |
| |
Tips for Pulling off the Attack: |
| You will want to quickly sneak in your void rays, unnoticed to the back of your opponents base and focus down on the command center. After it is destroyed if you can destroy additional buildings and incoming armies as your void rays will be "charged" and dealing maximum damage. It is recommended to go in with 3 or more void rays. |
| |
Transitioning out of this Strategy: |
| To Transition out of this strategy it is recommended to keep pressure with void rays if you can and continue to harass so your base will not get attacked. You can expand if your enemy is not pushing on you and gain an economic advantage or transition to building ground troops to support your void rays and push in on an opponent with little to no income. Look out for expansions too as this is largely an all-in strategy and the key to success is eliminating your opponents income. |
